Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare the titled compound useful as a solvent and an intermediate of surface active agents, in high conversion, in a short contact time with the catalyst, by contacting gaseous hexafluoropropene with an alkali fluoride supported on nickel oxide.
CONSTITUTION: Hexafluoropropene oligomer is prepared in several tens per cent conversion, by contacting gaseous hexafluoropropene with an alkali fluoride supported on nickel oxide carrier at a temperature above the boiling point of the resulting trimer and below 300°C, pref. 150W250°C. The amount of the alkali fluoride is 5W30wt% based on the nickel oxide carrier. The alkali fluoride is pref. cesium fluoride or potassium fluoride.
