Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance detecting sensitivity by arranging the centers of detecting coils in the inner peripheries, which are not in the heighboring sides, of a pair of a exciting coils, and increasing the magnetic fluxes interlinked with the detecting coils. CONSTITUTION:The centers of the detecting coils 2A and 2B are shifted with respect to the centers of the exciting coils 1A and 1B. The centers of the detecting coils 2A and 2B are aligned with the inner peripheries of the exciting coils 1A and 1B. The beginning of the winding of the exciting coil 1A is connected to a high frequency power source, and the end of the winding thereof is connected to the beginning of the winding of the exciting coil 1B. The excitation is made so that the directions of the magnetic fluxes generated in the coils are the same. The beginning of the winding of the detecting coil 2A is connected to a signal output terminal, the end of the winding thereof is connected to the end of the winding of the detecting coil 2B, and the beginning of the winding thereof is connected to the ground side of the signal output terminal. In this arrangement, the eddy current density is brought to its maximum point, and the varying magnetic fluxes which are interlinked with the detecting coils can be increased.
