Abstract

PURPOSE:To automatically and surely display the kind of the film loaded in a cassette by the constitution consisting of forming a recess in the bottom surface of the film supply chamber of a cassette body, and containing a filter specifying the rate of passage of light therein. CONSTITUTION:A light emission controlling part 44 makes a light emitting element 37 emit light cooperatively with the pushing of a release button or the closing operation of a cover body 13. The light beam thereof transmit through the filter 41 of the part 40 to be detected, is reflected by a total reflecting mirror 42, again transmits through the filter 41 and is entered to a photodetector 38. At the time when this incident light transmits through the filter 41, the quantity of light thereof is attenuated according to the dimension of a through-hole 43 set in correspondence to the kind of a film 22 contained in a camera 3 and therefore this light is photoelectrically converted to an electric signal indicating the kin of the film 22 by the photodetector 38, whereby the kind of the film 22 is discriminated in a controlling part 47.
