Abstract

PURPOSE:To cause an etching liquid to penetrate also into small recesses and holes on a master surface and remove surplus liquid so as to treat the surface securely, by a method wherein when immersing a plurality of pairs of upper and lower rollers into an etching liquid contained in a tank, some of the roller pairs are immersed to relatively deep positions while others are immersed to relatively shallow positions. CONSTITUTION:The master M is fed through a feed roller pair 4, then it is guided by a guide plate 5 and is introduced and immersed into the etching liquid in the tank 1. Then the master M is passed through the first roller pair 2 which has a lower roller 2a being entirely immersed into the liquid and an upper roller 2b being partially immersed. The pressure exerted by the roller pair 2 causes the liquid to sufficiently penetrate also into the recesses and holes on the surfaced to be treated. Subsequently, the master M is passed through the second roller pair 3, wherein only a part of a lower roller 3a is immersed in the liquid, whereby the surplus liquid adhering onto the treated surface is removed.
