Abstract

PURPOSE:To move the printing head in the minimum length of time possible and enhance the processing speed thereof by a method wherein the present-time position of the head is compared with the next line printing range, then the head is shifted to the next line through the shortest path, and it is moved at a TAB speed during a shift between the printing lines and also where successive spaces are present. CONSTITUTION:The contents of a present-time position memory circuit 5 and a calculating circuit 8 for the midpoint of the next line printing range are connected to a comparing circuit 6, then a moving direction of the printing head is decided and a signal is outputted to a direction discriminating circuit 12 through OR gates 9, 10 in accordance with the direction as commanded. A speed controlling circuit 13 receives a command from the direction discriminating circuit 12 and a printing speed command from a speed command circuit 14, and gives a motor revolution direction command and a motor revolution speed command to a driving circuit 15.
