Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance breakdown in an optical fiber core connection part and to improve reliability by watertightly and freely slidably connecting a water pressure resistant casing which houses said connection part to a sleeve secured to a water pressure resistant pipe for protection. CONSTITUTION:Through-holes 11 are pierced on the circumference of a metallic sleeve 10 fitted onto a water pressure resistant pipe 5, and an adhesive is filled in this to secure the sleeve to said pipe. The fine neck part 13 in the end part of a water pressure resistant casing 12 for protecting an optical fiber core connection part 9 slides watertightly with the sleeve 10 by way of an O-ring 14. One end of the sleeve 10 is provided with a bent stopper 15, and a stopper 16 secured near the other end is provided to the other end. Spring receivers 17, 18 are provided in the lower part of the neck part 13, springs 19, 20 for cushioning are interposed between spring receivers 17, 18 and stoppers 15, 16, and the sleeve 10 and the casing 12 secured to the pipe 5 slide relatively, thereby releasing the impact of the time when the casing collides against the stoppers.
