When laying and hoisting submarine optical fiber cables, complex fluctuating loads are applied to the cables due to waves, the movement of the laying ship, and other factors. When the water pressure tube provided on the outer periphery of the nine-fiber core assembly to protect the optical fiber core from seawater pressure is fixed and connected to the water pressure resistant housing for protecting the fiber connection part, the water pressure tube Repeated impact force and expansion/contraction stress are concentrated on the pipe, causing fatigue rupture of the water pressure pipe, which is dangerous.
In order to solve the above-mentioned drawbacks, this invention provides a water pressure resistant casing for housing a plurality of optical fiber core connection parts of an optical fiber submarine cable to a water pressure resistant pipe for protecting the optical fibers of the optical fiber submarine cable. This is a connecting device for optical fiber submarine cables that can be connected in a watertight and slidable manner and that can reduce impact on the connecting portion. Hereinafter, the optical fiber submarine cable connection device of the present invention will be explained with reference to the attached drawings. Fig. 1 is a sectional view of an optical fiber submarine cable implementing the connection device of the present invention, in which 1 is a central expansion force body; 2 is an optical fiber core assembly wound or bundled around it, 3 is a holding layer, 4 is a coating layer thereon, 5 is a waterproof pressure tube for protecting the core wire, and 6 is a coating thereon. Layer, T, 8 is the external expansion field line.

The optical fiber submarine cable connection device of the present invention includes a water pressure resistant housing housing several optical fiber core wire connection parts as described above, which is fixed to a water pressure resistant pipe for protecting the optical fibers of the optical fiber submarine cable. Since it is connected to the sleeve in a watertight and slidable manner, and a buffer spring is interposed at the connection part, fluctuating loads act on the optical fiber submarine cable, preventing it from becoming a pressure-resistant pipe for protecting the optical fiber core. Even if the water pressure resistant housing housing the cable core connection section moves relative to each other, the two can slide relative to each other and absorb the fluctuating load. Since there is a buffer spring that is restrained at both ends of the sleeve, there is no collision between the water pressure resistant housing and the metal sleeve, and no breakage occurs at the connection between the two no matter how much fluctuating load is applied. This has the advantage of not being scratched.

Furthermore, since the optical fiber submarine cable and the neck of the water pressure resistant housing are made slidable through the metal sleeve, the watertight structure is simplified and the watertightness thereof is improved.
