Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable to control a fuel delivery pressure with a miniaturized inexpensive device by a method wherein the engine and a fuel injection pump are connected to each other through an electromagnetic coupling, and the torque transmitted from the engine to the pump is regulated by changing an exciting current supplied to the coupling. CONSTITUTION:An output shaft 1a of the engine 1 and an input shaft 2a of the fuel pump 2 are connected to each other through the electromagnetic coupling 3, and the torque transmitted from the engine 1 to the pump 2 is regulated by changing the exciting current 1 supplied to the electromagnetic coupling 3, whereby the delivery pressure P of the pump 2 can be controlled. In this case, a revolution speed detector 4 consisting of a gear 5 and a pick-up coil 6 is fitted to the output shaft 1a, and a pulse signal Pn having a frequency corresponding to the engine revolution speed is fed from the detector 4 to the controller 10. The controller 10 is fed also with the outputs EN, ep of a revolution speed setter 7 and a pressure sensor 9 for detecting the pressure in a hydraulic circuit 8, and controls the coupling 3 by regulating the exciting current I in accordance with said outputs.
