Abstract

PURPOSE: To effect coarse granulation of crystalline polyolefin fine powder at lower energy, by giving the powder a flow rate enough to evade formation of conglomerates thereof at a temperature wherein particles of the powder are fused to adhere to each other to obtain the adhered particles.
CONSTITUTION: Crystalline polyolefin powder produced by suspension polymerization or gas phase polymerization and having an average particle size of smaller than 30 meshes and an average molecular weight of larger than 50,000 is introduced into a high-speed mixer such as Henschel mixer, is given a flow rate sufficient to evade formation of conglomerates thereof at a temperature wherein particles of the powder are fused to adhere to each other so that fused particles are obtained, and then, if required, is ground to obtain coarse polyolefin granules having an average particle size thereof larger than 25 meshes.
EFFECT: The coarse granules obtained as such may be molded by extrusion molding or injection molding in the same manner as in the case for pellets, and in addition may be subjected to powder molding such as sinter forming or compression molding.
