Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the combustion of adsorbents in a cooling zone, in case of cooling adsorbents by passing a low temperature waste gas, by detecting temperatures or CO concentration of an adsorbent packed chamber, and by passing steam instead of the waste gas when the detected value exceeds a prescribed value.
CONSTITUTION: The annular outer circumference of a cylindrical cage 1 is divided by a radial partition 2 so as to form an adsorbent packed chamber 3; the cage 1 is intermittently turned around by a driver 4. When the cage 1 is turned around and the adsorbent packed chamber 3 is transferred through an adsorption zone A and a desorption zone B to a cooling zone C, the inner temperature of the chamber 3 is detected by an infrared TV or a thermocouple; if the detected value exceeds a prescribed value, the O2 containing clean waste gas b' passing at 130°C through the chamber 3 is changed over to steam, and this steam is introduced into the adsorbent packed chamber 3.
