Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent air leak into an adsorption column from the outside in the exhaust gas desulfurization equipment using a carbonaceous adsorbent by a method wherein a blower is installed after a sulfur condenser so that sucked gas is retured to filled layers.
CONSTITUTION: In an equipment in which a carbonaceous adsorbent is used to recover simple substance of sulfur from sulfur oxide in a waste gas, a blower 9 is installed after the sulfur condenser 8 to suck gas. Since the gas sucked by the blower 9 is an inert gas, it is injected to the area immediately below a top rotary valve 11 of a desorption column 1, to the area just above a lower rotary valve 12, to the area just below a top rotary valve 13 of a converter 2, and to the area just above a lower rotary valve 14. This prevents air leak into a filled column from the outside and therefore eliminates a fire hazard, etc. when a high temperature carbonaceous adsorbent is used.
