Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform irradiation with an optimum irradiation spot at all times by generating a machining laser beam when the intensity of the reflected light of a continuous light is maximum in generating a laser driving signal. CONSTITUTION:The vibration of a rotating body 1 is detected by means of a vibration detector 7 and supplied, together with the output of a rotational phase detector 8, to an unbalance detecting circuit 9, where the position of an unbalanced position is calculated. A YAG laser oscillator 2 convergently applies a machining laser beam 11 on the part to be machined of the rotating body 1 through a condensing lens 13. The lens 13 can be moved by means of a step motor 14, and thereby the irradiation spot diameter of the machining laser beam 11 is regulated. A gas laser oscillator 15 applies a continuous light 16 to the rotating body 1 through the lens 13, and the light reflected therefrom is received by means of a light-receiving device 20 in order to detect fluctuations in the distance of the rotating body 1 with respect to the lens 13. A machining controlling circuit 22 controls the drive of the YAG laser oscillator 2 according to both the output OS of the light-receiving device 20 and the laser driving signal KS from the unbalance detecting circuit 9.
