Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain ultrasonic images at different frequencies easily by making piezoelectric plates to be arrayed different in thickness. CONSTITUTION:On packing material 11, stripelike piezoelectric plates 121-12n varying in thickness continuously in the lengthwise direction are arrayed to constitute an array type ultrasonic probe. This constitution decreases the resonance frequency at the thick part of piezoelectric plates 12 and increases the resonance frequency at the thin part, so that piezoelectric plates 12 will vary in resonance frequency according to the lengthwise position. For this purpose, selecting the frequency of an exciting signal radiates an ultrasonic wave of an optional frequency within a prescribed frequency range. In receiving the ultrasonic wave, a broad frequency range is obtained. Therefore, an ultrasonic image of a different frequency is obtained easily at any position of a sample.
