Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the transmission speed and extend the signal speed range to multiplex the signal, by modulating the digital pulse width of transmission data and by using rise and fall timings of this transmission data as optical signals synchronized with transmission clocks. CONSTITUTION:The digital pulse width of transmission data SD is modulated preliminarily by pulse width modulator 11, and transmission data which has rise and fall timings synchronized with transmission clock ST is converted to a light by photoelectric converter 12 and passes in optical fiber 13. This optical signal is converted to an electric signal by photoelectric converter 14, and code 1 or 0 of data is decided in accordance with the pulse width by pulse width modulator 15, thus reproducing receiving data RD. Since pulse width modulation signal PWM is modulated synchronously with the rise or the fall of transmission clock ST, receiving clock RT is realized only by 1/2 frequency division in frequency dividing circuit 16 for the rise of signal PWM.
