Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a high speed multiplex transmitter by using an optical circuit so as to apply time division multiplex directly. CONSTITUTION:A multiplex convertor 1 is provided with a reference clock generating circuit 11 generating a reference clock at a prescribed period t0, delay circuits 14-1-14-3 branching an optical pulse train with a wavelength lambda1 generated by a lighting circuit 12 into four series and shifting the phase by t0/4 each, optical gates 15-1-15-4 applying intensity modulation to the optical pulse train of the 4 series by communication information from an incoming line 10 respectively and a multiplexer 16 multiplexing the optical pulse train of the wavelength lambda2 outputted by the lighting circuit 13 and the optical pulse strain of the wavelength lambda1 outputted from the optical gate and sending the result to the optical transmission line 2. The multiplex separation device 3 is provided with reception nodes 32-1-32-4 provided for each outgoing line 30 and a branching device 31 distributing the optical pulse train of the optical transmission line 2. Since the time division multiplex is applied directly by the optical circuit in this way, high speed multiplex transmitter is obtained.
