Abstract

PURPOSE:To control the reaction between water and carbon steel by a method wherein a triferric tetroxide film is formed on the internal surface of the heat pipe and an aquaous solution of ethylene diamin tetra-sodium acetate salt is sealed into the heat pipe. CONSTITUTION:In order to form the triferric tetroxide film on the internal surface of the heat pipe, the heat pipe is treated at high temperature after the aquaous solution of ethylene diamin tetra-sodium scetate salt adjusted to a suitable pH is sealed into the heat pipe. The reason why such aquaous solution is sealed into the pipe is that by so doing, the triferric tetroxide film thus formed can regenerate immediately even when the film is destructed due to the influence of heat stress or external stress. The thickness of the film is preferably in the order of 0.05-0.5mm..
