Abstract
PURPOSE: To attain an effective utilization of thermal energy by a method wherein hot waste gas produced at an electric furnace is passed through a waste heat boiler to produce steam, and at the same time the generated steam is reheated by utilizing the waste heat of a rolling furnace for steel to generate electric power by driving a steam turbine.
CONSTITUTION: Hot gas from the steel making electric furnace 10 is guided to a combustion chamber 14. Upon complete combustion, the hot gas is fed to the waste heat boiler 15. Mediate pressure steam produced at the waste heat boiler 15 is heated again through an independent over-heater 17 processing a hot waste gas form the rolling heater furnace 16, overheated, then an electric power is generated through a condenser turbine 18. When one unit of electric furnace 10 is applied, a part of the waste gas with alow temperature is corrected for its decreasing temperature with a heater source such as a burner and the like, and in turn when a plurality of units of electric furnaces 10 are applied, a gas temperature is adjustes in response to an operation of the number of units installed, then it is fed to the waste heat boiler 15.
