Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable a low-temperature spraying in a method for spraying a molten metal onto the surface of an article to be coated, by spraying the molten metal in the form of a molten drop apart from a melting heat by a low-temperature gas. CONSTITUTION:An insulator 11 is attached to the chuck 15 of a spray cylinder 16. In the insulator 11 are embedded electrodes 12, 12' provided with wire leaders 13 for metal wires 14, 14' to be sprayed. An arc 23 is generated between the spray metal wires 14, 14' abutted to each other in a V-shaped through the wire leaders 13, 13', so that the wires 14, 14' fall as molten drops 24. The molten drops 24, with a spray stream 25, are sprayed onto the surface of an article to be coated, by compressed air injected through an annular injection hole 20. In this case, the heat of the high-temperature arc is forcedly dispersed through a vent 17, and the wire leaders 13, 13' are concurrently cooled by forcedly discharged streams 26, 26' from a compressed air chamber 19 while keeping the arc 23 uncooled. Consequently, the low-temperature spraying of the molten drops 24 can be done while dispersing the heat for melting.
