Abstract

PURPOSE: To attain to improve weldability, in preparing a welded can from a chromic acid treated steel plate, by applying a nickel or a thin base metal plating to a welded seam part.
CONSTITUTION: An adhered amount of a metal chromium and/or a chromium oxide of the chromic acid treated steel plate is desirably reduced in order to further expect the enhancement of weldability. Said steel plate is applied with a can inner surface paint or an outer surface printing paint except a part to be welded and, thereafter, slitted into a predetermined dimension. A lapping edge during welding is generally about 0.3W2.0mm and a nonpainted part may have a dimension a little larger than that of said lapping edge. To at least one surface of the part to be welded or to said surface and a sheared cross area of the steel plate, Ni, Sn or an alloy thereof having a m.p. lower than that of iron and excellent press adhesiveness is plated. Subsequently, the part to be welded is subjected to the resistance welding.
