Abstract
PURPOSE:To detect and correct a one-bit error with relatively simple constitution by selecting an error bit through making a vertical parity check when a fault is detected in terms of horizontal parity. CONSTITUTION:When RAM memory 31 of 16 words by 7 bits having a parity bit at each final bit is readout and a horizontal parity error is detected by parity checker 42, 16 words are all readout via an external device and stored in data register 38. Then, a vertical parity value is generated and compared by comparing circuit 39 with the original vertical parity value stored in register 33. Thus, a faulty bit is detected by noncoincidence detected by circuit 39 is detected and reproted to the external device. Consequently, one-bit errors are detected and corrected with the relatively simple constitution.
