Abstract

PURPOSE: To detect and correct error bits accurately by providing the first check bit for every address of a storage part and storing the second check bit common to plural addresses into the storage part.
CONSTITUTION: Horizontal parity check bits P0... are provided besides data bits D00, D01... for every address A0... of ROM 2, etc. Meanwhile, vertical parity check bits Q0, Q1... common to respective addresses A0... are stored in register 3, and addresses and data bits which are erroneous are detected by bits P0... and Q0... at a ROM 2 read time, thus detecting and correcting error bits accurately.
