Abstract
PURPOSE:To ensure an economical and assured half-wave extension, by using the oscillation current with its polarity especially designated for the current for the arc half-wave extension which is superposed on the current supplied from a low-voltage and large-current power source. CONSTITUTION:The output of a rectangular wave oscillating circuit in which e.g. inductance L and capacitor C are connected in series and in plural units into a pi-form is used for the oscillation current. An application is started for the rectangular oscillation current Ip so that the same polarity is obtained as the polarity of the current Ig of that moment and at a time point right before the zero point of the current Ig supplied from a low-voltage and large-current power source. In such way, both the amplitude and period of the current Ip can be reduced greatly in comparison with the conventional case of application of the adverse characteristic oscillation current. As a result, an economical and assured half-wave extension is made possible.
