Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the compact AC-DC combined transformer with a high efficiency by initially switching the polarity at a frequency higher than that of the input voltage so as to effect the secondary conversion with the high frequency transformer and the returning it to the original position at such a higher frequency. CONSTITUTION:AC (or DC) voltage from input terminals 21 and 22 is fed to the first polarity switching means (for example, MOS-FET251-258) and is excited with an output of a square wave osillator 30 which outputs a frequency higher than that of the input voltage and after switched in the polarity, it is fed to a high frequency transformer 27 to effect the secondary conversion at the turn ratio of n2/n1. The output is fed to the second polarity switching means (for example, MOS- FET261-268), rectified synchronizing with the high frequency of an oscillator 30 and outputted to output terminals 23 and 24 after transformed. Such higher frequency by the switching technique can reduce the amount of iron and copper to be used for transformers thereby assuring a compact and light transformer with a high efficiency.
