PURPOSE:To provide a thermal printer which prevents the blurred print by moving in parallel a type head at a dot pitch in a columnar direction and stopping the head during printing to energize it. CONSTITUTION:A heat sensitive sheet 1 is fed in a direction of an arrow (c), a type head 2 is reciprocated in a columnar direction, a heater 3 is energized, and a print is performed with coloring part 5. In this case, a type head 2 having a plurality of heaters 3 arranged longitudinally with a simple structure is used for the type heat, and is incrementally moved at a dot pitch in a columnar direction in the direction of an arrow (b). After the movement, the head 2 is stopped, the heaters 3 are then energized, and a print is performed. When the type head is heated while moving the head, it takes time from the energization to the heating, during which blurred printing part occurs on the moved head sensitive sheet, but this can be prevented.
