Abstract
PURPOSE:To make high-quality servo track information writing possible with a simple constitution, by setting the angle of the writing head for the swing arm to a prescribed level and by giving a prescribed adjustment to the servo track information writing start time in each track. CONSTITUTION:The servo track information write head is installed to the swing arm at an angle where importance is given to the floating performance, and the movement tangent direction of the head gap center does not coincide with the direction of the head gap. The writing current is applied to the head on tracks in inside circumferential side 49 after movement of distance 63 of the recording medium and is adjusted for every track, and the writing current is adjusted similarly in the outside circumferential side, and thus, the pattern between the writing start phase and the servo track is adjusted as prescribed. By this system, distances 53, 54, and 60- 64 do not exceed a fixed range and become short, and the control without damaging floating stability is easy. Consequently, servo information is written onto the servo track with a high quality and with a simple constitution.
