Abstract

PURPOSE:To sense the number without fail so that the effects of the illuminating state in the space to be checked, colors, and the like are disregarded, by transmitting ultrasonic wave to the object to be sensed and receiving the wave reflected from the object to be sensed. CONSTITUTION:The beam-shaped ultrasonic wave in a pulse shape is transmitted from a wave transmitter 121 in a wave transmitting and receiving device 12 to the object to be sensed 13. The ultrasonic wave reflected from the object to be sensed 13 is received by a wave receiver 122. The output of the wave receiver 122 is sent to binary coding circuit 15 via an amplifier 14. The output of a timing pulse generator 16 is sent to the binary coding circuit 15 and to a degital signal processing device 18. The digital signal processing device 18 obtains the position of the object to be sensed 13, stored it in an enclosed memory, obtains the information of the objects to be sensed in the space to be checked, and calculates the number. Its results are displayed by a display 19.
