Abstract
PURPOSE: A solution containing S-adenosyl-L-methionine is treated with an H+ type weak acid cationic exchange resin, then with active carbon, to produce the titled compound of high purity used as a chemotherapeutic preparation for diseases caused by metabolism disorder with industrial advantage.
CONSTITUTION: A bread yeast is cultured in a medium to accumulate S-adenosyl-L- methionine (SAM) in the cell bodies and subjected to shaking extraction, then centrifuged to give a solution containing SAM. The solution is passed through a column filled with an H+ type weak acid cationic exchange resin to make SAM adsorb on it. The SAM is eluted with an acidic aqueous solution and the elute is passed through a column filled with active carbon for chromatography to make the SAM adsorb on it. The SAM is fractionated by eluting with a mixture of an acidic aqueous medium and an organic solvent to give the objective purified SAM.
