Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a copper or copper alloy product capable of keeping its brightness in the air for a long period of time by a method in which the surface of a copper product is coated with a solution obtained by adding a specific amount of a semidrying or nondrying oil to a chlorine-based organic solvent, and then treated in a reductive atmosphere under a specific condition.
CONSTITUTION: The surface of a copper or copper alloy is coated with a solution of 0.2W10.0vol% a semidrying or nondrying oil in a chlorine-based organic solvent and then dried to remove the solvent. In this case, the semidrying oil used is rapeseed oil, etc., and also the nondrying oil used is castor oil, etc. Also, the chlorine-based organic solvent used is preferably trichlorethylene. The preferred amount of the oil to be coated is approx. 0.015g/m2 or more, and the formation of paint film is attained by removing the solvent by drying. Then, the copper or copper alloy product so treated is subjected to an annealing treatment at 300°C or higher in a reductive atmosphere containing 0.5W7.0vol% CO. Thus, an even and dense oxide film having a thickness of approx. 40W70A and a bright surface can be formed.
