Abstract

PURPOSE: To recover waste heat for preheating intake air at a high efficiency comparable to that of a heat pipe by circulating by a pump a heat-transmitting medium between heat exchangers provided respectively on the exhaust side and on the air intake side of a combustion furnace or the like.
CONSTITUTION: The heat-transmitting medium fed into an upper-part heat exchanger 14 by the pump 17 evaporates by absorbing heat from hot exhaust gas discharged from a furnace body 10, then it is fed through a descending pipe 16b into a lower-part heat exchanger 15, where it releases the heat to preheat the intake air 12 and is condensed to a liquid, which is recirculated. Accordingly, heat can be recovered at a high efficiency comparable to that of a heat pipe without requiring any bulky construction work usually involved in the case of a heat pipe system.
