Abstract

PURPOSE: To detect the cupping as a decrease of unbalanced electric current value of the bridge circuit, and to prevent the breakdown fault of the wire in process of the wire drawing work or in practical service, by installing a drawing force detecting ring, which forms a bridge circuit, between the die and the die holder, and by processing the wire drawing work.
CONSTITUTION: A cylinder 7 preventing the die's rolling motion is provided with a die insert 8 for setting the die 3 at one end and with an insertion hole 9 for threading the wire (a) at another end; a drawing force detecting ring 10 is installed inside the said cylinder 7; this detecting ring 10 forms a bridge circuit, by sticking a couple of vertical strain sensing resistors (b) and a couple of horizontal strain sensing resistors (c) on the surface of the ring 10; thus constituted detector 4 is set in the die holder 2, and a die 3 is set in the die insert 8 of the detector 4; thereafter, the wire (a) is drawn through the die 3. If the ring 10 causes a compression deformation by the effect of deformation resistance and the friction resistance of the wire (a) against the die face, the strain sensing resistors (b) and (c) respectively changes its resistane so that an unbalanced electric current is generated in the bridge circuit. As a result, if a decrease is detected in the electric current, it informs of a decrease of the wire drawing force P.
