Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain cooled degassed water effectively at low cost, by heating a degassing unit with warm water, then cooling the water in a cooling tower, heating the cooled water under reduced pressure with said warm water in said degassing unit in order to degas the water.
CONSTITUTION: Warm water, e.g. at 40°C is introduced into the tubes of heating tube bundle 3 from conduit 10, cooled to about 38°C by heating water sprinkled on bundle 3 from sprinkler 6, delivered through conduit 11 to water cooler 1, and cooled there to about 30°C with air. The cooled air is sent with pump 5 through conduit 4 to sprinkler 6 of degassing unit 2, and scattered on tube bundle 3. It is heated to about 31°C, and at that time, the inside of unit 2 is kept at about 35mmHg pressure with the evacuating apparatus not shown, the cooled water is boiled, and the produced vapor is removed together with dissolved gases. The degassed cooled water is sent with pump 9 through conduit 8 to a water using plant.
