Abstract
PURPOSE:To make the hot charge of the billet possible without affecting the energy saving effect, by installing the walking beam type heating furnace which holds and heats the high temperature cast billet group of light unit weight, and supplies the billet to the hot rolling apparatus with the drawing capacity equivalent to the rolling capacity. CONSTITUTION:The cast billet of heavy unit weight is supplied from the continuous casting apparatus to the sizing mill 4 through the recuperating furnace 3 and is rolled to a breadth required by the hot rolling pass; then the billet is split by the splitter into a length required by the rolling pass; hereby, plural high temperature billets of light unit weight are prepared. The billet, whose surface flaw is detected by the hot flaw detector 13, is scarfed by the partical scarfing apparatuses 17, 18, is charged into the warming furnace 21 or the walking beam type heating furnace 6 according to the billet's temperature condition; but, the flawless billet is charged as it is into the furnace 6. The cast billet group of heavy unit weight, being charged into the furnace 6 by a specified period, is held in the deep zone of furnace length LD to which the flue gas of the fire zone is supplied; after that, the billet is charged into the fire zone of furnace length LR, and is heated to the rolling temperature, and then is supplied to the hot rolling apparatus 1 with the drawing capacity equivalent to the rolling capacity.
