Abstract

PURPOSE: To effectively prevent the spontaneous ignition of coal by providing a plurality of gas jetting nozzles on the wall of a coal storing chamber, facing the inside thereof, so that the cooling and replacing air can be made to flow uniformly through the whole coal layers in said chamber.
CONSTITUTION: A plurality of nozzles 4, 4'... are provided at proper positions on the side wall of a coal 2 storing chamber 1 having discharge ports 3 and 3' at the lower portion, and connected through pressure flow rate controlling valves 5, 5'... to a compressor 6 by means of an air piping 7. Each of the pressure flow rate controlling valves 5, 5'... is controlled by a pressure flow rate controller 8 through a control wiring 9. In storage of the coal 2, the pressures and amounts of the air flowing out of respective nozzles 4, 4'... are detected by means of sensors such as flow rate sensors in the pressure flow rate controlling valves 5, 5'..., and then respective controlling valves 5, 5'... are controlled according to the instructions from the pressure flow rate controller 8. Thereby, a constant air is jetted out of each of the nozzles 4, 4'... at all times in order to establish a uniform air flow through the chamber 1.
