Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the particle board which is free from reduction of bending strength under the ordinary state and does not produce brown stains even in the water by a method wherein more ammonium sulfate is added in water-soluble phenol resin adhesives.
CONSTITUTION: Ammonium sulfate, preferably in the form of water solution, is added in water-soluble phenol resin adhesives to which caustic soda is applied. The adhesives are added, for example, by 8% by weight of the chip for the chip in the internal layer and by 12% by weight of the chip for the external layer. The chip is formed in the form of a multistructure mat and then pressed in heating. Additionally, preferably, the mixture can be obtained more easily in the absence of aqueous ammonia for the low-concentrated (10% or less) aqueous solution of ammonium sulfate while by the addition of aqueous ammonia for the high-concentrated (10W 30%) aqueous solution of ammonium sulfate.
