Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the transmission loss of a photoconductive ring by a method wherein the outer and/or inner side surface thereof is formed into a curved or tapered surface in the photoconductive ring effecting an optical transmission of a signal outputted by the operation of switches provided on a steering wheel in order to control a load for a vehicle power.
CONSTITUTION: When the switches 17aW17k provided on the steering wheel 13 is operated, a corresponding pulse encoding signal is outputted from an encoder circuit 21 and an optical signal in accordance with the signal is outputted from a current to light converting circuit 22 comprising a luminous element 22a. This optical signal is inputted into a receptor element 24 through the photoconductive ring 23, is converted into an electrical signal and is amplified by an amplifier 25, thereafter, is impressed into a predetermined driving circuit 28 through a threshold circuit 26 and a decoder circuit 27 to drive the corresponding switch for the load. In above-described constitution, the outside surface 23b of the photoconductive ring 23 is formed into a tapered surface having a predetermined angle and an optical signal proceeding to the outside surface 23b from some point out of the ring is reflected while the signal is outputted from the lower surface of the ring, thereby, reducing the transmission loss of the ring.
