Abstract
PURPOSE:To demodulate an electric signal correctly by detecting positive and negative envelopes of an electric signal obtained by receiving and converting a optical signal, by using a halved sum of those detection outputs as the reference voltage, and by comparing and detecting the electric signal. CONSTITUTION:A signal converted from light to electricity by photodetecting element 1 is amplified by amplifier 2. The output signal of amplifier 2 is supplied to detectors 7a and 7b for envelopes at the positive and negative voltage sides, and output voltages of detectors 7a and 7b are applied to adder 8 together with reference voltage VREF. The output of adder 8 is applied to input terminal 6 of comparator 4. Adder 8 outputs the sum of the half of the sum of the outputs of detectors 7a and 7b, and the reference voltage, and its output is used as the reference voltage of comparator 4. Thus, a detection error due to a transident phenomenon of the differentiating circuit composed of capacitor 3 and the input resistance of comparator 4 are compensated.
