Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent the increase of the time constant and then to increase the dynamic range of AGC by reducing the resistance value of the load applied to the avalanche photo diode in accordance with the increase of the diode capacity.
CONSTITUTION: Optical input 1 is applied to avalanche diode 2, and the electrc output generated there is amplified through amplifier 3 to be extracted through output terminal 4. On the other hand, the output of amplifier 3 is detected through detector circuit 5 and then compared at comparator circfuit 6 to which reference voltage input 7 is applied. And in case the detection output of circuit 5 is higher than the reference voltage, the comparison output corresponding to the error voltage is applied to DC high-voltage generator circuit 8 where the reverse bias voltage is applied to diode 2. In such constitution, the capacity value increases as the absolute value of the reverse bias voltage decreased, and the CR time constant increases. In this connectiin, variable resistance circuit 9 with its resistance value reducing is provided newly between diode 2 and amplifer 3 and then connected to the joint of circuit 6 and 8. Thus, the increase of the time constant can be prevented.
