Abstract
PURPOSE: To manufacture the sintered compact described in the title having excellent mechanical properties without requiring conventional specific heating furnace, by heating Al powder to be formed, which is mixed with forming agent for a protective atmosphere or painted with the forming agent, to a sintering temp. after the mixture is enveloped with metallic foil.
CONSTITUTION: Molded item of Al powder, which is mixed with a protective- atmosphere-forming agent comprising one or more members among alcohols, fats and oils, or painted with the forming agent, is enveloped with metallic foil, then it is sintered, hereby oxidation is prevented positively by sealing the gas generated from the protective-atmosphere-forming agent with metallic foil. Hence this method allows to manufacture cintered Al powder compact having excellent mechanical properties constantly at a low cost without use of a reducing gas and a specific furnace which is used for quick heating in conventional methods.
