Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain an anticorrosion metallic pipe having excellent fitting characteristic and a high resistance to chemicals, by inserting a tube of unbridged silyl-modified polymer into a metallic pipe, introducing overheated vapor into the tube to fuse the same to the inner surface of the pipe, and then subjecting the tube to bridging in the presence of a silanol condensation catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: A tube 2 of unbridged silyl-modified polymer is inserted into a metallic pipe 1. Overheated vapor, the temperature of which is not less than the softening point of silyl-modified polymer, is introduced into the tube 2 to expand the same, so that the tube 2 is fused to the inner surface of the metallic pipe 1. The tube is subjected at the same time to a reaction with the overheated vapor in the presence of a silanol condensation catalyst, to obtain an anticorrosion metallic pipe. For example, a one end-closed tube 2 of unbridged silyl-modified polymer containing a silanol condensation catalyst is inserted into a steel pipe 1. An open end of the tube 2 is connected to an outlet port 3 for overheated vapor. Overheated vapor is introduced from the outlet port 3 into the tube 2 to fuse the same to the inner surface of the pipe 1 and bridge the tube 2 simultaneously.
