Abstract
PURPOSE: To achieve the supply of oxygen and the separation of activated sludge within the same tank by shifting the liquid lifted within an inside cylindrical member by the blow of a high concentration oxygen gas into an outside cylindrical member in a position higher than the liquid level of a treating tank thereby returning the same into a treating tank.
CONSTITUTION: The high-concentration oxygen gas blown from a diffuser 11 is absorbed and diffused into the mixed liquid of the feed water from a supply pipe 9 and the liquid from a suction pipe 8a to give a upward gushing force to the liquid. This upward gushing force causes the liquid to ascend in a cylindrical member 6, to pass through an opening 6a having been set in a position slightly higher than the top edge of a treating tank 1, and to shift into a cylindrical member 7. On account of this slight head difference, the liquid in the member 7 passes through a return pipe 10 and flows at a predetermined flow rate into the bottom of the tank 1. The greater portion of the gas separated from the liquid in the member 6 or 7 is circulated into a pipe 12 by way of a blower 15. Since the return liquid to the tank 1 does not contain any gas, gentle flow is maintained in the tank 1 and the liquid in the tank 1 is separated to supernatant 2b and sludge liquid 2a. The supernatant 2b then overflows from the tank 1.
