Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent surrounding contamination and deterioration of the insulation of electrodes or the like by trapping ink mist generated during printing by means of an ink mist trapping device provided near the printing surface. CONSTITUTION:An ink mist trapping device 14 is provided facing to an ink jet printing head 6 through a recording paper transferring path. Air is sucked in with a fan 20 in the trapping device 14 while ink mist is adsorbed with an air-permeable hygroscopic paper 21 covering an air suction port of the fan 20. The paper 21 moves at a slow speed while the ink mist trapping device 14 is working. This enables the trapping of ink mist at high efficiency in a continuous printing without decreasing the sucktion force due to clogging.
