Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable to effect a high speed printing regardless of the length of the sheet by a method wherein vacuum ports for sucking the sheet are provided on a drum as a sheet transferring means to suck the sheet upon transferring it in the multinozzle ink jet recorder.
CONSTITUTION: The sheet sent out of a casette is fed to the drum 21 by a register roller 26 rotating in synchronizing with the drum 21 through a guide 27, the foremost end S1 of which is coincided with the vacuum ports 22 provided on the drum 21 at a position (a), is sucked to the peripheral surface of the drum 21 by the effect of a suction control section and is transferred. Subsequently, the sheet S is squeezed uniformly by a spring plate 28 substantially equal to the sheet in the width thereof and a recording picture may be obtained at a recording position 29 immediately after the slack thereof is removed. When the fore end S1 of the sheet after recording is arrived at a position (b), the sucking effect is released as soon as the sheet receives the friction of a rubber roller 30 and the sheet is separated from the drum 21 to discharge it.
