Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a catalyst for purification of exhaust gases which is inexpensive, has high performance and is used for the apparatus for people's livelihood, by carrying catalyst metals on a carrier having a melt-sprayed layer of heat-resistant inorg. matter on a resistance heating element.
CONSTITUTION: A heating element is used for the carrier itself as a catalyst for purification of exhaust gases produced from the apparatus for people's livelihood such as various burners, cookers, etc., whereby the catalyst activity as an ordinary temp. type catalyst is improved. An electroheating type alloy such as Ni-Cr alloy contg. ≥77% Ni, and 19W21% Cr, or Fe-Cr alloy contg. 17W26% Cr, 2W6% Al, ≤0.1% Co, ≤1.5 Si, and ≤1.0% Mn and the balance consisting of Fe is used as a carrier 1. Heat-resistant inorg. matter 2 such as TiO2 or TiO2-ZrO2 is plasma-melt- sprayed on the surface thereof, and platinum group metals such as Ru, Rh, Pd, Os, Ir, Pt are carried thereon as a catalyst 3.
