CONSTITUTION:An image pickup tube 6 has a face plate 7 formed of fiber plate, and a color filter 8 to be inspected having a crossing stripe-shaped pattern is detachably attached closely to the outer surface of the face plate 7. When a blue filter is used as a color filter 11 for producing a monochromatic light, the blue light having permeated through the color filter 11 permeates trough the transparent small region A and the cyanic small region C of the color filter 8 being inspected, and a diagonal line stripe-shaped picture is reproduced on the screen of a monitoring television receiver 10. If there are pinholes or detects in the yellow stripe region Ye, they are reproduced as white dots or patterns. Thereby, accurate inspection is made possible.
