Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain an output from a linearly polarizing gas laser tube with stable polarizing characteristic by employing an oblique contact surface for placing a glass plate for obtaining linearly polarized light and a metallic member integrally formed with the legs and fixing the glass plate accurately to the contact surface to prevent the movement of the glass plate. CONSTITUTION:A sealing tray 2 is connected to the end 1 of a discharge tube at one end of the discharge tube, a sealing tray 3 for enclosing another glass plate 7 is fixed to the bottom of the sealing tray 2, and a mirror 4 is sealed to the sealing tray 3 with low melting point glass 5. The glass plate 7 for obtaining linear polarization is placed on the oblique surface 61 of the blister made of metallic member 6 and on the bent part 62, and fixed by the low melting point glass 8. The sealing trays 2, 3 and member 6 are assembled on the same axis. The thermal expansion coefficient of the member 6 is equalized to those of the glass plate 7 and the glass 8, the strain caused upon fixing is eliminated, and the glass plate 7 is accurately fixed at a blister angle to thus obtain an output having stable polarizing characteristic.
