Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent dirt of a transfer roller by providing an image formation body and a transfer roller, detecting both the tip and the near of transfer paper by means of the detection swtich, and making the transfer roller contact and separate in accordance with length of a material to be transferred, by said detection signal. CONSTITUTION:A toner image is formed on the surface 10a on the electrostatic drum 10 which is an image formation body, and is transferred on transfer paper which is pressed down by the transfer roller 14. The transfer paper is detected by the tip and rear detection switch 4. The solenoid 23 is operated by a tip detection signal, and the half turn clutch 25 is inputted by the shaft 23a and the lever 22. When the clutch 25 is inputted, the cam disk goes round, the lever 18a is made to go round, the transfer roller 14 is made to contact with the drum 11 by synchronizing with the transfer paper, and to separate from the drum in accordance with a rear end detection signal.
