Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the abrasion of a photoreceptor through making press-contacting force less than that of a conventional web cleaning system, by arranging a magnet close to or in contact with the surface of web where a photoreceptor is not in contact. CONSTITUTION:Beltlike web 4 is press-contacted against a photoreceptor 1 by a press roll 2 whose surface is made of a nonmagnetic material, and in the press roller, a fixed magnet 3 is arranged. The beltlike web moves by a drive roller 7 in the direction shown by an arrow and is pressed against the photoreceptor 1 by the press roll 2 to clean it. After transfer, residual toner on the photoreceptor is removed by being moded from the photoreceptor surface onto the web at the pressing part between the photoreceptor and web by the press-contacting force and a magnet. The press-contacting force is made less than that of a conventional web cleaning system, and the abrasion of the photoreceptor is lessened.
