CONSTITUTION:A toner image is formed on the surface 10a on the electrostatic drum 10, and it is transferred on the transfer paper which is pressed down by the transfer roller 14. In case when the transfer paper is B4 size L2, the power reject lamp 40 is not lighted, the solenoid 23 is excited in accordance with detection of the tip of transfer paper, the lever 22 and the clutch 25 are operated, the cam plate 29 operates the lever 18a, and transfer paper on the transfer roller 14 is pressed down on the drum centering around the shaft 18. In case of A4 size, the power reject lamp 40 is operated, the area L3 except the A4 size width L1 is destaticized, and dirt on the surface of the transfer roller 14 is prevented.
