Abstract

PURPOSE: To make a power unit smaller in size and lighter in weight by disconnecting the engagement between a gear assembling member and an outut shaft with a starting wheel's rotating force transferred by the rotation of a kick shaft.
CONSTITUTION: A sector gear 32 is fastened to a kick shaft 24 placed in parallel to a crank shaft 13. A gear assembling member consists of a starting gear 33 and a large change gear 28a. The starting gear 33 is loosely fitted to a sleeve 28b which is also loosely fitted to an output shaft 27. The larger changer gear 28a has one piece construction with the sleeve 28b. A dog clutch 34 is constituted between the starting gear 33 and the gear 28a. As the kick shaft 24 rotates, the sector gear 32 starts rotating engaged in the starting gear 33 loosely held by a spring 35, which supplies a thrusting force to the starting gear 33 and engages it to the dog clutch 34, rotating the gear 28a. At the same time the engagement between the output shaft 27 and the dog clutch 29 is disconnected. The rotating force of the kick shaft 24 is transferred to only the gear 28a and causes the crank shaft 13 to rotate.
