Abstract

PURPOSE: To cut a low-pressure portion after injection and improve combustion by using a part of high pressure fuel to close a fuel injection needle valve with an automatic subneedle valve having a specific valve opening pressure and by providing a high pressure application device to help close the fuel injection needle valve.
CONSTITUTION: An automatically operated sub needle valve 121 is inserted into an injection valve body 120 so that it may slide. The valve opening pressure of the subneedle valve 121 is set by a control screw 6 for valve opening pressure and a control screw 125 for subneedle valve opening pressure. The setting pressure is higher than the conventional pressure of a needle valve 3 and lower than the maximum injection pressure. As an oil channel 2 is connected to an oil channel 127, the pressure of an oil container 126, rises by fuel injection and becomes almost identical to that of an oil container 101. If the pressure exceeds the valve opening pressure of the subneedle valve 121, the subneedle valve 121 rises, allowing the oil pressure to reach an oil pressure chamber 103. However, the increase rate of oil pressure is slower than that of the oil container 126, because a channel 111 is narrow. When fuel injection is over, the spring force as well as the oil pressure of the oil pressure chamber 103 act on the needle valve 3 and incrases the valve closing pressure of the needle valve 3.
